HTC Evo First Sprint 4G Phone Now Available

Sprint is leading the cellular industry in terms of wireless service with its latest 4G service. Finally, Sprint customers will be able to get their hands on the HTC Evo, the first phone by Sprint to support 4G speeds. How fast is 4G? A blazing 4Mbps down, 1Mbps up. Many people don't even get these speeds from their home internet, let alone in wireless Sprint service areas all over the nation. Here's a few details about the Evo 4G.
  • Android Operating System
  • 1GHz Snapdragon Processor
  • YouTube HQ video player
  • Connect up to 8 wireless devices as a mobile hotspot
  • 8 MP camera/Video Chat
  • HTC Sense
  • HDMI Port
  • GPS
  • 800 x 480 display 4.3" diagonal
  • 1500 mAh capacity lithium ion battery
CNET rated the Evo 4G 4/5 (Excellent). "The HTC Evo 4G is easily Sprint's best smartphone and one of today's top Android devices. It also shows the promise of 4G, which will grow as Sprint's WiMax network expands, but until there's broader 4G coverage, it's hard to agree with the mandatory premium data add-on fee."

Engadget says "this is truly one of the best smartphones ever made, and even spotty 4G -- a reality of a young technology that's going to take years to properly build out -- probably won't do much to hamper your enjoyment of this thing."

The Evo 4G is available now for $199.99 w/a 2 year contract from Sprint.
